On Friday 24th November 2023, Kingdom Bank in partnership with the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) planted a mix of 1,500 exotic and fruit trees on the JCSC campus in Karen, Nairobi.
The event which was coordinated by the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) Commandant, Major General Eric Kinuthia, saw a team of 20 from the bank led by Bank Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Anthony Mburu interact with the KDF officials on how at both individual and corporate level we all can enhance our contribution by making climate-positive decisions for the benefit of future generations.
In his remarks, Mr. Mburu, Kingdom Bank Managing Director and CEO said, “The Government, development partners and the world at large have called on all global citizens to play their part in restoring our forest cover across the different continents. We are here today because we have a target to plant 10,000 trees as an institution in line with our social impact initiatives and Government agenda to plant 15 billion trees thus increasing our country’s forest cover by 30% by the year 2032.”
Also speaking at the event, Major General Eric Kinuthia, the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) Commandant urged everyone in attendance to plant 3 trees annually to accelerate our country’s tree planting initiative and to ensure that we hit our 2032 target.
Just this year, Kingdom Bank has planted 6,500 trees and counting in partnership with various institutions including 2,000 trees at the AP Training College in Utawala, 1,000 trees at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in South C, 2,000 trees in Thika Barracks and now 1,500 trees at the JCSC in Karen.
